Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the current and long-term financial sustainability and well-being of the organization
  • Work with the Board and the senior executive team to ensure the short- and long-term financial viability of the organization
  • Maintain a positive relationship with clients and colleagues
  • Direct the accounting team by establishing priorities and ensuring accounting practices align with the school’s goals
  • Be responsible for financial statement preparation and reporting
  • Act as company lead with external accountants for regular audits
  • Develop and administer the operating budget and spending priorities
  • Support fundraising efforts by liaising with donors, clients, and the Board
  • Work with Human Resources to support hiring efforts

The right candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • 7+ years of accounting experience
  • 5+ years of corporate accounting experience at the senior level
  • Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a business or accounting emphasis
  • Previous or current CPA
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience working closely with a small executive team to support the organization’s vision and values
  • Experience working with and leading an accounting team
  • Ability to work in an intimate environment and develop strong working relationships with colleagues and subordinates
